Located 52 Km from Pune & 59 Km from Satara, Shirwal is a growing town on NH- 4 ( Mumbai –Banglore) in Satara district.
At a distance of 13 Kms from Khandala which is Taluka place also Shirwal is surrounded by Bhor on West , Purandar on North , Wai on South , Haveli on North
Khandala, Shirwal and Lonand are large cities in the Khandala Taluka.
Being in the Satara district in last five years Shirwal grown up rapidly because of fastest connectivity to Pune.
As of 2011 Shirwal had a population of 16,080. Which has a growth of 36% from 2001.
Shirwal also has a good number of colleges & schools Krantisinh Nana Patil college of Veterinary Science, Rayat Shikshan Sansthas Shirpatraon Kadam Mahavidyalaya, Dnyan Sanwardhini High School, Pragati Girls High School, Adarsh Vidyalaya.
There are good number of Hospitals which served the city in Emergency. Some of them are Gore Accident hospital, Civil Hospital Shirwal, PHC Shirwal.
